HIGHLIGHT

Proboscis Monkey

The Proboscis monkey has one of the most unusual appearances of any of the leaf-eating monkeys of the family Cercopithecidae. This unique endangered wildlife is endemic to Borneo. Have a glimpse of the Proboscis monkey’s mating activities. Its long pendulous red nose gives him the nickname: The Dutchman of Borneo.

The easy 2 hour ride to Beaufort, a southern town in Sabah, provides you to have a peek at the ‘kampung’ (village in Malay language) life where you can have an original feel of how the local folks live. You are always greeted with a local smile and friendliness. You don’t only get to see it, but you get to ‘eat’ it too – the savory Malay Hi-tea is ready to satisfy your taste buds.

Mangrove Forest

Mangroves hold about 60 species of trees and provide habitat for more than 2,000 species of fish, invertebrates, and epiphytic plants. Mangrove forests buffer mainland from the strong storms that often hit tropical coasts, build up nutrient-rich soils along coastlines, and are the natural nurseries for sea creatures like shrimp, oysters, crab, and tarpon, which feed and provide livelihoods to millions of people. Try your luck on catching river shrimp if tide is not too high.

FireFly

The firefly scientifically known as Pteroptyx Tener commonly known as "Kelip-Kelip" in Malay. Let the glittering fire-flies light up the night for you. Immerse yourself in the serenity of the night in the mangrove forest while making dreams of Peter Pan flying across the starry sky.
